What's Your Favorite Version Of Classic Wrestling Theme Songs?
Wrestling legends usually have iconic theme songs accompanying them, but they can also have numerous versions of songs.Do you have a preferred theme song for your favorite legend? Undertaker is my favorite wrestler, and I think the version of his theme that he used around 1998 before he created the Ministry Of Darkness was my favorite.
Scrolling through the internet, we have found an array of songs that were created by a wrestler, either as a solo artist or in a band, that range from being great works of art, to something that just needs to be seen to believe. Here are some of the many songs that wrestlers created that their fans must know about.
Be A Man By Randy Savage
Released October 7th, 2003

- It is part of a 14-track rap album.
- Most of the album and this song specifically is a diss track to Hulk Hogan.
- The song "Perfect Friend" is a tribute to Curt Hennig.
This and the next entry might be some of the more well-known albums created by a professional wrestler simply due to their age and how much they have been talked about in the wrestling community. On the off chance you haven't heard of this, Be A Man is a rap album made by "Macho Man" Randy Savage in his signature rough voice.
The majority of the album was made as a diss track to Hulk Hogan, with the title track "Be A Man" being the biggest jab at the Hulkster. The only non-diss track was Perfect Friend, which was written as a tribute to "Mr Perfect" Curt Hennig, who had passed away a few months before the album was released.
The Time Is Now By John Cena
Released March 17th, 2005

- It was the lead single for Cena's 2005 album, You Can't See Me.
- The album peaked at number 15 on the Billboard 200.
- Cena's old entrance theme "Basic Thuganomics" was meant to appear on the album.
Due to it being his theme song for the last decade-plus, it would be hard to find a wrestling fan who hasn't heard "The Time Is Now" by John Cena. It is the rest of the album that people need to hear, such as the tracks "Right Now" and "If It All Ended Tomorrow". Cena did all the writing alongside his cousin, Tha Tradmarc.
The album saw some success as it peaked at number 15 on the Billboard 200 and sold around 385,000 units during its lifespan.
We Like To Rock By Terry Funk
Released Sometime In 1984

- This is one of three albums released by Terry Funk.
- It was only ever released in Japan.
- Half of the album was written by Jimmy Hart.
It doesn't seem to be much of a shocker because of how great of a promo Terry Funk was in his prime, that the man would decide to take up singing sometime.
"Despite being packaged as a collection of sh*t-kickin’ tuff-guy anthems, is a baffling mixture of off-kilter quasi-disco, watery session-band almost-rock, and ballads destined only for the jankiest of karaoke machines." (H/T Vice)
This is also one of three albums that Funk would release during his lifetime, this one being released exclusively in Japan.
March Of The Luchagors By The Luchagors

10 Def Rebel WWE Theme Songs That Are Actually Great
While Def Rebel sometimes gets heat for their generic WWE themes, they've also created a few bangers.

Big Pressure By Sw3rve The Realest

- Became Swerve Strickland's entrance theme.
- Released as a single before Swerve's debut album, You Couldn't Be Me.
- Collaborated with Flash Garments, who works on other songs with Swerve.
Swerve Strickland has been killing it with his recent work as AEW World Champion and his feud with Adam Page, but the man does not get enough credit when it comes to his music. Big Pressure was a track he released back in 2022 but wouldn't take off until he started using it as his theme song and Prince Nana started dancing to it every week.
At the moment, Swerve has released numerous singles and two full-length albums that can be found on streaming services. Swerve also has another project titled Swerve City, where he releases music with a recent album release called Tears.
Who Invited The Russian Soldier? By Every Time I Die
Released September 15th, 2009

- Andy Williams (The Butcher) played guitar for the group.
- The band was Williams' career long before wrestling.
- The band confirmed their end in 2022.
Every Time I Die was a big deal in the metal and hardcore music scene. The group started back in 1998 and released nine albums before calling it quits in 2022. The group was led by Keith Buckley, who did the vocals, but Andy Williams, a.k.a. The Butcher in AEW was the band's rhythm guitarist for their run.
Provided every album by the group was pretty solid, most can agree that New Junk Aesthetic released in 2009 was their best. New Junk Aesthetic received 4 out of 5 stars and above 90% from almost every music publication that reviewed the album.
Prison Walls By Kamala
Released Sometime In 2006

- Released as part of The Best of Kamala Vol 1.
- Launched the album on his website in 2006.
- It features a wide array of Blues, Soul, Gospel, and other genres of music.
The man behind the Kamala gimmick is an interesting story. James Harris, who sadly passed away in 2020, did a lot more than wrestling during his lifetime, including writing and producing hundreds of songs.
He would release his debut album titled, The Best of Kamala Vol 1 sometime in 2006 by dropping the album on his website. The themes of his music often talked about his problems with working in wrestling, the low pay he was receiving, and politics.

- The video reached over 100,000 views in four days.
- The song reached number 92 on the iTunes Pop Music chart in 2013.
The wave of popularity that Zack Ryder was riding in the early 2010s was massive, and it was largely due to his Z! True Long Island Story YouTube series. The hype started to die down at the start of 2012, but Ryder would try to keep it alive with the release of his single, Hoeski.

Released October 30th, 2019

- Joe Hendry has been making music for years.
- Often made parody songs to taunt his opponents.
- The song has over 3 million streams on Spotify.
