What's the best greatsword in Monster Hunter Rise? ›

If you can predict monsters reliably TCS is the superior choice. A word of warning though since some monsters like rajang and tigrex seem to be a better fit for rage Slash since they tend to get in your face. Adamant Slash over hunting edge any day.

the endgame meta armor set for GS would be 4pc Fatalis armor + either 1pc rimeguard or 1pc Frostfang and using the Fatalis GS. it has the highest DPS and is also very flexible.

The Longsword IS the best weapon in Monster Hunter Rise full stop and Sunbreak didn't change that. It's not the easiest for new players but is devastating once you master it.

Greatswords are a weapon type that deals high single attack damage. These can also be powerstanced more easily than Colossal Weapons as they have a lower weight. Greatswords also have low requirements, which means it can be used two-handed easily.

the difference is that greatsword has a better crit range but greataxe has a better crit midifier. So its a question of wether you prefer doing crit more often or doing more damage when you get a crit. And for the scimitar/longsword thing I prefer scimitar. Better crit range and only a difference of 2 points of damage.

You can start using the Greatsword at 21 Strength, but you can one-hand it at 32. You don't really need to one-hand it, as you're going to be playing two-handed with this build anyway. If you decide to move on from that to a better weapon, you're going to need more Strength.
